Enrolment with Preference at our Catholic Primary Schools is granted where the child is baptised in the Catholic Church.

If your child is baptised Roman Catholic then you are seeking Preference of Enrolment under criteria 5.1. You need to bring your child’s Catholic Baptism Certificate to the parish office and a Preference Certificate will be issued from there.

If either of the child’s parents are baptised Roman Catholic then you are seeking Preference of Enrolment under criteria 5.3. You will need to make a time to meet with one of the priests of Catholic Cathedral Parish. Phone the parish office 379 1068 for this to happen.

When you sign your child’s Preference Certificate you are agreeing to pay the Diocesan Attendance Dues in full each year. You are also signing that you are aware that the parish and the school share information.

There are other circumstances that may result in a child being accepted with Preference into the school:

• The child’s parents / guardians have already allowed one or more of its siblings to be baptised in the Catholic faith.
• At least one parent is a Catholic, and although their child has not yet been baptised, the child’s participation in the life of the school could lead to the parents having the child baptised.
• With the agreement of the parents, a grandparent or other close relative undertakes to actively support the child’s formation in the faith and practices of the Catholic Church. This would involve an active and close on-going relationship between this significant adult and the child.
• One or both of the child’s non-Catholic parents is preparing to become a Catholic.

If you think you may fall into one of these special categories, please speak with one of the priests and they will arrange a time to talk with you about this.

Non-Preference Enrolment If you do not meet any of the above criteria you will need to apply to the school to go on their non-preference waiting list.
