Liturgy of the Word with Children is held during Sunday 9.30am and 4.30pm Masses at Cathedral Parish. It is for children aged four years and up that have not yet made their First Holy Communion.

Just before the Mass Readings are read, those children who have not yet made their First Holy Communion, are invited to come forward to the priest and then process out for The Liturgy of the Word with Children, where they receive the readings, presented at their level and in various formats that will engage them.

Our children are so important to us and this is a proclamation of God’s Word appropriate to their understanding. The Gospel is discussed and broken open so the children have a better understanding of the messages. A profession of faith is proclaimed and prayer intentions offered before the children rejoin their parents.

It gives children an opportunity to develop a real, personal faith with our Lord in a safe, fun, and friendly environment. A parent is welcome to accompany their child to support them if needed.

Liturgy of the Word with Children is held during school term time only.
